Bust a Move: Zumba Style

Bringing you another option for keeping/ getting that slammin’ physique for your college years.  Zumba is a great way to stay active and fit while also having a great time with your friends, learning some dance moves for the clubs and even meeting new people!  Zumba is a mixture of dance and aerobics. The choreography involves following the music with repetitive movements.  It incorporates hip-hop, salsa, martial arts, samba and some Bollywood.  Lunges and squats are also incorporated for toning.

Zumba is for everyone!  Fast and slow rhythms are both included, along with resistance training for fitness and losing weight.  Zumba helps you feel comfortable and confident with your body making it easier to bust a move on the dance floor or rock that edgy outfit that you have kept in the back of your closet for the past year debating whether  or not you could work it.

After a Zumba class you will be exhilarated.  It makes you feel as if you can accomplish anything.  A perfect solution for when you have a night of studying ahead of you.  Squeeze in an hour of Zumba and you are set to barrel through the next 7 hours of Accounting 101.

Zumba is a newer workout class but it is bringing people in by the masses.  Check with your campus REC center to see what types of classes are available for you.  Depending on the area, there also might be some studios locally that offer discounted or even free classes for students or first timers.

So check it out!  Grab a couple of your friends and go work it out on the dance floor.  If you don’t like it at least it will make for a good story :)
