How to Throw a Great Party

Ready for a party but not sure of the basics? Check out College Student Life & Fun: How to Throw a Great Party for some of the most basic tips. Here at DormWise, we thought we'd expand a bit on the ideas from the article.

Making a contact list
With facebook, this couldn't be easier. One of the best ways to promote your event is through a facebook invite but even more than that, you can get an idea of which friends you should invite to which parties. Of course, you should always let your good friends know when you're partying so no one feels left out, however if one of your new acquaintances in college prefers reggae music, or outdoor bbqs, or dance parties, you might get an idea from their facebook profile.

Getting the word out
If you want to keep your party small, it's generally a good idea to limit your publicity to facebook or email invites. If you're looking for a huge event, however, start getting the word out in your classes and among your friends. There's nothing more popular than a party everyone is talking about.

Prep your dwelling
The article suggests picking some games to play, but you'll probably be fairly busy just chatting amongst your friends and an organized event could ruin the mood of your party. Don't try to force any sort of schedule for your event. Get some great music, food and drinks and let the guests take care of themselves - you'll have a much better time!

Planning a party is easy and fun, and a great way to meet new people in college. Good luck and be sure to tell us about your college party hosting experiences!
